The rules for using Peerloom

Effective date: July 1, 2026  ·  Last updated: July 22, 2026

1. Acceptance of terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Peerloom, operated by Peerloom Technologies Limited ("Peerloom", "we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using any part of the platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use Peerloom.

2. Eligibility & accounts

Peerloom is intended for students, lecturers, and staff affiliated with a tertiary or higher-education institution. You must provide accurate information when creating your account, including your correct role (student or lecturer) and institution, and you're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.

You're responsible for all activity that happens under your account. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at peerloomonline@gmail.com.

3. Acceptable use

When using Peerloom, you agree not to:

  • Impersonate another person, institution, or misrepresent your role or affiliation.
  • Upload or share content that is unlawful, harassing, defamatory, or infringes someone else's rights.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to another user's account, group, or quiz data.
  • Interfere with the platform's normal operation, including through scripts, bots, or attempts to bypass security controls.
  • Use Peerloom to distribute malware, spam, or unsolicited commercial content.

We reserve the right to remove content or restrict accounts that violate these standards.

4. Quizzes & academic integrity

Lecturers may create quizzes with configurable time limits, attempt limits, and deadlines. While a quiz is in progress, Peerloom records a limited set of integrity signals — tab switches, copy actions, and paste actions — as described in our Privacy Policy. These signals are visible to the lecturer who owns the quiz and are intended to support, not replace, that lecturer's own academic integrity judgment.

Students agree to complete quizzes honestly and in accordance with the academic integrity policies of their own institution. Peerloom is a tool that surfaces information to lecturers — decisions about grading, discipline, or academic consequences are made by the lecturer and institution, not by Peerloom.

Note: Attempt limits and deadlines are set by each lecturer per quiz. Once your attempts are used or a deadline passes, Peerloom will not grant additional attempts automatically — contact your lecturer directly for exceptions.

5. Content & ownership

You retain ownership of the content you create or upload to Peerloom — messages, quiz questions, resources, and announcements. By posting content, you grant Peerloom a limited license to host, store, and display that content as needed to operate the platform (for example, showing your message to other members of your group).

You're responsible for having the necessary rights to any material you upload as a resource, and for not infringing third-party copyright or intellectual property.

6. PeerPal AI

PeerPal AI is an assistant built into Peerloom to help with studying, explanations, and exam preparation. Responses from PeerPal AI are generated automatically and may occasionally be incomplete or inaccurate. You should verify important academic information independently and use your own judgment before relying on it for graded work.

7. Groups & lecturer responsibilities

Lecturers who create and manage groups are responsible for the accuracy of the quizzes, announcements, and resources they publish, and for managing membership appropriately. Students who join a group are expected to follow the norms and instructions set by that group's lecturer, in addition to these Terms.

8. Fees

Peerloom does not currently charge for access to the platform. If we introduce paid plans or features in the future, we'll communicate pricing clearly in advance, and existing free functionality won't be retroactively locked behind a paywall without notice.

9. Feedback

If you send us feedback, suggestions, or ideas about Peerloom, you agree that we may use them to improve the platform without any obligation to compensate you, and without treating them as your confidential information.

11. Availability & changes to the service

We work to keep Peerloom available and reliable, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted access. We may add, change, or remove features over time as the platform evolves, and we'll aim to communicate significant changes that affect how you use the platform.

12. Suspension & termination

We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these Terms, poses a security risk, or is used in a way that harms other users or the platform. You may stop using Peerloom and request deletion of your account at any time by contacting us.

13. Disclaimers

Peerloom is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, regarding the platform's operation, quiz results, or AI-generated content.

14. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Peerloom Technologies Limited will not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform, including academic outcomes resulting from quiz results, grading decisions, or reliance on AI-generated content.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to Peerloom Technologies Limited's place of incorporation, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, unless a different governing law is required by the mandatory consumer protection laws of your jurisdiction.

16. General provisions

Severability. If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full effect.

Entire agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, make up the entire agreement between you and Peerloom Technologies Limited regarding use of the platform, superseding any prior understandings on the same subject.

No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision of these Terms is not a waiver of our right to do so later.

Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

17. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you directly. Continuing to use Peerloom after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
